President's Message - October 201310.04.2013
Preparations for the Closed Meeting are nearly complete, and we anticipate an exciting agenda in Las Vegas at the Bellagio Resort. An Open Meeting, chaired by Buddy Savoie, will take place on Saturday, inviting expertise on arthroscopic and minimally-invasive techniques. There will be industry exhibits, lunchtime workshops, and lively debate and case discussion on relevant clinical pearls. A reception will be held on Saturday evening, combining the arrival of the ASES membership with the Open Meeting attendees. A presentation on “value” of the shoulder and elbow specialist is a perfect setting to showcase the importance of membership to our organization.
The Closed Meeting, chaired by Tony Romeo and Larry Field, begins on Sunday morning. Symposia will include complex clinical problem areas, as well as identifying the importance of collection of clinical data to address the growing political and financial concerns that our membership is facing, regardless of your country or location of practice. A combined session with our physical therapist society, ASSET, will be held during the meeting, addressing the importance of shared science.
There are many social activities available including golf on Sunday and Monday afternoons, a wine tasting tour and a visit to the Brain Center on Monday, and the black tie (optional) dinner on Monday evening. Our ceremony and academic session will be completed on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. We have several guest speakers during the meeting to present other perspectives on how our organization is achieving its mission and vision.
I am indebted to the hard-working, creative members involved in managing this exciting agenda. I look forward to seeing you at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
