The ASES now participates in the SF Match.  Please find a link to the Orthopaedic Shoulder & Elbow Match through SF Match below:

SF Match – Orthopaedic Shoulder & Elbow Match

Process for the 2018-2019 Orthopaedic Shoulder & Elbow Match

The application for this year's match cycle is not centralized with SF Match.  This will not happen until next year.  Therefore:

  • Applicants can obtain a copy of the Orthopaedic Shoulder & Elbow Match application directly from the ASES website. (See Above)
  • Applications and supporting materials (photo, CV, and letters of recommendation) are to be submitted directly to programs by the applicants.  Applicants and programs will work together to ensure all applications materials have been received by the programs.

Information for Programs

  • You will be responsible for entering all applicants who apply to your program into your user account with SF Match.
  • All rank list information is to be submitted to SF Match, not the ASES office.

How programs keep track of who is applying:

  • Login to your SF Match Account.
  • Click on “Applicants” tab to view applicants who have added the program to their list.
  • Applicant’s details can be viewed by clicking on applicant’s name.

In the event that the program has received an application, but does not see the applicant listed in their SF Match account, the program has two choices:

  1. Contact the applicant and ask that the applicant follows the steps described in the “How applicants make their profile available to programs” noted below.
  2. The program can add the applicant if the program has the applicant’s 5-digit SF Match ID.

Information for Applicants

All fellowship programs require the application, CV, photo, and letters of recommendation.  There may be additional items required by each program.  These required items vary by location.  Please work with the programs directly to ensure you have submitted all the required documents for that program.

In order to participate with the Orthopaedic Shoulder & Elbow Match process, you will have to register through the SF Match.

Registration
There is a $50 non-refundable applicant registration fee that covers registration and matching.  This is paid directly to the SF Match.  Once registered, applicants can manage their account by logging in to their account profile. To register, click on “Register” and follow the steps. The registration fee can be paid with a Visa or a MasterCard.

If you do not take this step, you will not be included in the match process.  Simply sending your application materials to a program does not make you eligible to be part of the match.

How applicants make their profile available to programs:

  • Register as an applicant at www.sfmatch.org
  • Login to SF Match Account.
  • Click on “Program Directory” to view available programs for the current match.
  • Check programs of interest.
  • Go to “cart” and conclude selection.

**Please Note**: There may be programs that add to the Orthopaedic Shoulder & Elbow Match prior to the November 1st application deadline.  Please check back to the program list to ensure you have not missed any possible additional program(s) in which you would like to apply.

Questions?
Please contact the SF Match directly with any questions you may have about the Orthopaedic Shoulder & Elbow Match.  You can email your questions to help@sfmatch.org or call them at (415) 447-0350.
