Fellowship Description:
Location:  Oakland and Orinda, California
Duration:  1 year (August 1 - July 31) beginning Aug 1, 2006
Stipend:   Commensurate with level of training

The East Bay Shoulder Clinic fellowship provides a unique experience in postgraduate medical education through participating in the management of outpatient and surgical shoulder patients in a private practice limited to the shoulder. Over 500 cases are performed yearly. These patients have a wide variety of primary clinical conditions (traumatic, degenerative, and athletic injuries) as well as failed reconstructive procedures. Clinical evaluation is emphasized and rehabilitation, both non-operative and postoperative, protocols are taught.  Arthroscopic and open surgical techniques are both equally emphasized. Surgical techniques will be taught in the operating room and in an available cadaver laboratory.   Participation in clinical research projects and preparation of scientific publications is expected and the fellow may also become involved in ongoing basic science research if desired. The fellow is to complete two publishable projects during the year.
