Goals and characteristics

This fellowship is a one-year program that will provide an excellent experience in the clinical, surgical and rehabilitative management of routine and complex shoulder conditions and pathologies.  A comprehensive exposure to modern shoulder surgical procedures is emphasized with extensive training in shoulder arthroplasty, arthroscopy, revision surgery and open reconstructive procedures.  Clinical experience is coordinated with the fellowship director’s busy private practice.  Each fellow is expected to participate in clinical research and other educational projects under the direction and supervision of the shoulder service and to complete at least one clinical research project, submitted in publishable form, during the fellowship year.

Candidates must be board eligible and have a Georgia state medical license at the time that the fellowship begins.  This program is a part of the ASES fellow selection process.  The ASES universal application must be completed, along with a copy of the applicant’s curriculum vitae, a personal statement and medical school transcripts.  Interviews are conducted between Labor Day and November 30th.  Positions will be offered per the ASES match in December.
