Application Process

The 2025 membership application cycle is now open and will close on Wednesday, January 15th, 2025 at 5pm CT.

Steps for the application process

  • Complete the Membership Application.
  • Reach out to potential sponsors and ask them to complete the sponsorship form on your behalf.
  • You will receive a confirmation email from ASES staff once we have received all of your materials, including sponsor forms. If you do not receive this email please follow up with ASES staff to confirm that your application was received.
  • The Membership Committee begins the review process once the application period closes.
  • Applicants will be notified of the results by late June/early July.

Sponsor Forms

The ASES Office sends out a link to the sponsorship form at the start of the sponsorship period. You can also find the sponsorship form via the members-only section of the website (please note that only Active, Affiliate, and Corresponding members can see the link). If you can not locate this email please contact us.

Late sponsorship forms or applications will not be accepted.

ASES Member Responsibilities

  • Compliance with the Principles of Medical Ethics of the American Medical Association and with the Bylaws;
  • Strict compliance with all Federal and State Antitrust laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Service as an article reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons;
  • Attendance at the Annual Meeting at least once every three (3) consecutive years (does not apply to Fellow, Affiliate and Corresponding Members). This responsibility is waived after fifteen (15) years of membership;
  • Submission of an abstract for presentation at the Annual Meeting at least once every three (3) consecutive years (this only applies to Active members); This responsibility is waived after fifteen (15) years of membership.
