Event Description:
Chicago has been called the “City of the Big Shoulders” by poet Carl Sandburg 100 years ago to honor the hardworking tradesmen and laborers who made Chicago the industrial center of the region. We are celebrating shoulder and elbow care in Chicago by bringing together patients, surgeons, therapists and other members of the community. Surgeons from our host committee will discuss exciting technologies in shoulder/elbow surgery. Industry and local supporters will have the opportunity to showcase their products and services in an exciting and engaging event.

7:00-7:30 PM – Opening Networking Reception, including resident posters and industry exhibits
7:30-8:30 PM – Strolling dinner, food stations, visit posters and exhibits
8:20-8:25 PM – Welcome and Opening Remarks – Lewis Shi MD, Joaquin Sanchez-Sotelo MD
8:25-8:30 PM – Advancing shoulder and elbow patient care – Greg Nicholson MD
8:30-8:35 PM – State of Art and future of shoulder surgery – Dane Salazar MD
8:35-9:00 PM – Guest Speaker: Gary Fencik on personal experience as a patient recovering from shoulder surgery.
Introduction and Q&A by Gordon Nuber MD
Mr. Gary Fencik is a Chicago native and has played for the Chicago Bears for 12 years. He was once a first team All-Pro, and is the Bears all-time leader in interceptions and total tackles. He was part of the 1985 Bears team that won Super Bowl XX. Since retiring from NFL, Mr. Fencik has worked in the finance industry and as a television commentator.
9:00-9:20 PM – Industry Thank You/Presentations
9:20-10:30PM – Socializing/Mingling, Visit posters and exhibits, Cocktails, Desserts, Coffee
There will be a residents/fellows poster competition judged beforehand. Winning posters will be on display, with lead authors present to discuss the posters.
