Event Description:
The meeting will be held in the historic 1982 World’s Fair Park in downtown Knoxville. The venue is casual rustic and has a rags to riches theme. Sam Venable is our non-medical guest speaker and is a close friend of another native East Tennessean, Bill Dance. As youngsters both wanted to pursue career paths that seemed at that time ridiculous. Bill Dance wanted to bass fish for a living and Sam wanted to write about outdoor sports. Both said the other was crazy, but both have excelled at achieving their respective dreams. Sam has made something from nothing and has many books and accolades to show for it.

Our other guest speaker who we are honored to have is Dr. Bill Youmans. He was one of the first Orthopedic surgeons to put sports medicine on the map. He decided not only to become specialized in the types of surgeries frequently needed by athletes, but he also became the official doctor for the University of Tennessee. He and others like Lanny Johnson back pioneered arthroscopy as the way of the future. They were right. We are honored to have both of these men here who have forged their own ways to success.

Agenda:
6:00pm – 7:00 pm – Cocktail hour with heavy Hors d’oeuvres beer and local moonshine and bourbon
7:00-7:10 – Introduction and information about ASES – Dr Edwin Spencer
