ASES 2020 Specialty Day

The ASES 2020 Specialty Day Meeting is CANCELED

After careful consideration and ongoing communications with our co-sponsors (SOMOS and OTA) and the program co-chairs Drs. Brett Owens and Heinz Hoenecke, last night the ASES Presidential Line decided to cancel the ASES Specialty Day and all ASES committee meetings scheduled in Orlando.

Our decision to cancel Specialty Day was not taken lightly.  In the last week, we have learned of the increasing number of travel advisories and restrictions being placed on our members and colleagues at many hospitals and institutions throughout the US and we have closely monitored faculty cancellations.

Given the current global health care crisis gripping the nation and the world, we feel that this is the best decision we could have made at this trying time.  The health, safety and well-being of our members, staff, and patients we serve is of utmost importance to the ASES Leadership, and we want to make sure that everyone is well.

We are actively looking for ways to repurpose our outstanding program and we will be working closely with Drs. Owens and Hoenecke on virtual alternatives and other options.  Please join me in recognizing Drs. Hoenecke and Owens, all faculty, and our co-sponsoring organizations for their hard work on a fantastic Specialty Day Program.

We look forward to a much calmer time when Covid-19 is behind us.

Sincerely,
William N. Levine, MD
President, ASES
