ASES Grant Opportunities
Each year, the society issues a call for proposals encouraging new investigators to apply for seed and start-up funding for promising shoulder and elbow research projects. Grants of up to $20,000, for work to be performed over 12-24 months, are considered. Only orthopaedic surgeons acting as principal investigators are eligible to apply. All applications are reviewed and graded by the ASES Research Committee.
In an effort to provide research assistance to Candidate members, the ASES will offer an annual grant of $10,000 to the most deserving applicant. This grant was started thanks to the generosity of 4 donors. Dr. Felix Savoie, Dr. Anthony Romeo, Dr. Matthew Ramsey, and Dr. William Levine.
The ASES PJI Grant is designed to provide supplementary funds, or funding for pilot studies which will lead to larger foundation or government grants. The focus can be on any aspect of scientific study that affects the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of shoulder prosthetic joint infection. A grant of up to $10,000, for work to be performed over 12-24 months, will be considered. Only orthopaedic surgeons acting as principal investigators are eligible to apply.
Applications for all 3 grants are due by February 21, 2025. Completed applications should be emailed to ASES at info@ases-assn.org.

Thank You for an Incredible 2024!
As we reflect on 2024, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to you—our supporters, members, and friends of the ASES Foundation.
Last year, we celebrated 40 years, supported groundbreaking research, funded vital education initiatives, and expanded opportunities for mentorship and professional development.
The ASES Foundation had its most successful fundraising year in history. Here are just a few highlights from this incredible year:
- Surpassed our $400,000 donation goal with $772,194 in donations received.
- Achieved the highest member-donor engagement at 26.29% participation.
- Offered more ways to give than ever, including live and silent auctions, virtual and mail-in campaigns, and seamless donation options through Google and Apple Pay.
In addition to all our wonderful ASES members who individually gave in 2024, thank you to:
- The 17 ASES Past Presidents who gave $74,000 to our 40 Past Presidents’ campaign for our 40th year, surpassing the $40,000 goal.
- The 6 regional meeting societies who donated $2,500 each, totaling $17,500.
- The 100+ ASES Foundation volunteers on the foundation board, committees, or task forces, as well as NSEW host committee volunteers and attendees.
- The 50+ members who donated enticing items to our first live/silent auction.
- The 100+ industry partners who financially supported our foundation events, education, fellowship grant program, exchange fellowships, multi-centered research, and early career programs with nearly $2 million in funding.
Thank you for making 2024 a year to remember!
We so look forward to engaging with even more ASES members in 2025 through volunteerism, donations, and participation in many of our programs.
Happy New Year!
