Dr. Robert Samilson was born on August 31, 1923 in New York, New York. He completed his bachelor’s degree at Dartmouth College in 1943 and his MD at the New York Medical College in 1950. HeDr. Samilson was an intern at Mount Sinai Hospital in 1950-1951 and a resident in general surgery, as well as a fellow in physical medicine at Bellevue Hospital in 1951-1953. In addition to his residency in general surgery, he also completed a residency in orthopedic surgery New York Orthopedic Hospital, Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in 1953-1956.
He was a clinical instructor orthopedic surgery University California, San Francisco, 1957-1958, a clinical assistant professor, 1958-1962, an associate clinical professor, 1963-1974, and a clinical professor starting in 1974. He practiced medicine specializing in orthopedic surgery in San Francisco. He was a member of staffs at the Children’s Hospital, University California Hospitals, Presbyterian Medical Center, and the Marshall Hale Memorial Hospital. Dr. Samilson was also an ABC Traveling Fellow in 1963.
