Neer and Morrey Award Submissions

Changes to the Neer Award

In the past, The Neer Award papers have been selected from abstracts accepted to the ASES Annual Meeting or Specialty Day programs. Each year we receive many quality papers that are not considered for The Neer Award due to the papers not being selected by the meeting’s Program Planning Committee. To remedy this, the Executive Committee has approved the creation of a new independent award submission process that will allow more papers to be considered for the award.

Additionally, going forward only shoulder paper submissions will be accepted for this Award

Click here for more details regarding the new submission process.

The Morrey Award

ASES is very pleased to announce the Morrey Award, a new award established in honor of Dr. Bernard Morrey who is one of the founding members of oursociety. The award has been created to provide recognition for outstanding clinical or basic science investigations contributing to the understanding, care or prevention of injuries to the elbow. The Morrey Award will be awarded each year to the best elbow (clinical or basic science) paper.

Click here for more details regarding the submission process

Submissions for both the Neer and Morrey Awards are due by July 1st, 2021.

ASES Diversity Initiatives with Nth Dimension

We are thrilled to announce the two ASES host/mentor programs for our partnership with the Nth Dimension. Drs. Ron Navarro and Ivan Garcia will be hosting at Kaiser-Permanente in Los Angeles and Dr. Eric Gordon will be hosting at Emory University in Atlanta.

We are so proud of our membership to have had such a tremendous response and interest to serve as mentors. We had over twenty-five ASES members apply which was beyond our expectation for our first year. The students were placed primarily based on location. I would encourage interested members to reapply in the coming years as we continue to provide opportunities for students from underrepresented backgrounds.
